Abstract

Having analyzed a number of letters by P. A. Vyazemsky, his poetical works and the handwritten copies of an anonymously published poem To the Current War preserved in the poet's archive, N. L. Vasilyev and D. N. Zhatkin came to the conclusion that, «with high probability», the poem was authored by P. A. Vyazemsky. Little did they know that A. V. Starchevsky's memoirs contain a direct evidence of Vyazemsky's authorship, coming from a person who knew him well.
