Abstract
On 30 January 2017 the 28th African Union Summit in Addis Ababa elected Mussa Faki Mahamat, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Chad, as the Chairman of the African Union Commission for 4 years. His election as the AU chief executive indicates a reorientation of the Panafrican Organization' policy towards issues of peace, security and counterterrorism on the continent.
