Abstract
The 2015 presidential election in Nigeria took place on March 28 and resulted in the victory of Muhammadu Buhari, a retired military officer and a Muslim, who succeeded Goodluck Jonathan, a Christian, as Head of State. The election campaign had been conducted amid poor security conditions due to increased activities of the Islamist terrorist sect Boko Haram in north-eastern Nigeria and on the border with Cameroon.
