- Abstract
- The Iranian presidential elections, held on 19 May 2017, demonstrated that a significant part of the country's population supported the incumbent president Hassan Rouhani course for further liberalization of the state's political and economic policies, resulting in his resounding victory over other candidates. Nevertheless, the election campaign showed that his opponents, belonging to the conservative wing, had a strong support of the people who voted in favour of Ebrahim Raisi.
