Abstract

The dynamics and nature of the sociopolitical process in Niger are substantially influenced by the presence of rich deposits of uranium ore in the Sahel region in the NorthEast of the country. In 2009, uranium reserves ranked Niger the 9th in the world (276 thousand tons), on its production the 6th place (about 6% of world production).
