- Abstract
- Transformation of Russia in the XVIII c. into a great power, arrival of the Russian military and commercial ships to the Mediterranean Sea have caused the establishment of political contacts, trade and economic relations with Arab countries. This, in turn, paved the way to establish with them cultural and scientific relations which are analyzed in detail by the author. As of today it must be noted that the scientific and, especially, cultural ties with the Arab world are less intense than in Soviet times, and it will take a lot of efforts to get them to the same level.
