- Force This paper analyzes Indian role in the settlement of the Sri Lankan ethnic conflict. The extent of Indian involvement in the events of the neighboring country varied depending on internal and external factors that affected India’s interests and security. During the 1980s the ethnic conflict became a dominating factor in IndoSri Lankan relations and India was playing an active role in Sri Lanka. Since the 1990s New Delhi officially pursued a handsoff policy towards the conflict.
