Аннотация

Статья посвящена отношениям США с оппозицией режиму Б. Асада в ходе гражданской войны в Сирии. Рассматриваются как дипломатический, так и военный аспекты сотрудничества Белого дома с умеренной сирийской оппозицией. Автор определяет вклад США в причины, по которым антиасадовская оппозиция не стала ключевой военной силой в Сирии и весомым игроком на международной арене. Прежде всего, речь идёт о стремлении Соединённых Штатов отстраниться от конфликта, не ввязываться в очередную войну на Ближнем Востоке. Однако данный подход способствовал эскалации войны в Сирии и затруднил борьбу США с террористами «Исламского государства».
