- Abstract
- Drawing on archival data, photographic documents, publications, and other materials, the author sheds light on the development of the Don Cossacks' dress in the complicated and contradictory period of the 1930s. The article provides a comparative analysis of the dress in the pre-Soviet and Soviet periods, as well as a detailed description of its features and elements. The author argues that there was an apparent tendency, in the period after the Civil War, toward eradicating the Cossack dress which was taken by the Bolsheviks as a symbol of political reaction.
