- Abstract
- The article is concerned with the problem of the semantics of the name of publishing house “Alkonost” (1918–1923). It shows that since the very beginning the publisher (S. Alianky), the artist (Yu. Annenkov) and the authors interpreted the image of Alkonost, a bird of Paradise, diffently. Particular attention is paid to the trademark of the publishing house designed by Annenkov in 1918 and the influence that of V. Vasnetsov’s painting (“Sirin and Alkonost” , 1896; “Gamajun”, 1895) had on Annenkov’s work.
