Abstract

Contradictions and mistakes which Bretton Woods system contained from the very beginning, are considered in the article. An estimation is given to positive qualities and to shortages of Bretton Woods system as a provisional construction suitable for special situation in world economy after World War II. It is explained, what is wrong with “Triffin dilemma”, and an estimation is given for misunderstandings following from this theorem. The confirmation is presented that Jamaican monetary system corresponds to world economy requirements, and no needs exist for its reform. It is confirmed also that world currencies emerge from competing national currencies achieving maturity. So world economy doesn’t need any artificial common currency, including SDR.
