Abstract
The author explains p. A. Sorokin's interest in national problems not so much by the ethnic roots of The scientist himself (his mother was a Komi peasant), but by a combination of state, class and national factors, which during the first world war and the revolution that unfolded in Russia in 1917 aggravated the situation in the country. The collapse of Russia has put forward a number of projects for the national future of Russia, which Sorokin considers, justifying the Federal way as the only way of life for its development. The author analyzes the scientist's approach to the concept of the Russian nation and its character traits.
