Abstract
Based on a study of the activities of migrant entrepreneurs in the southern regions of the Russian Far East (2013), it is shown that it is not an enclave phenomenon focused only on a “narrow circle” of ethnic minorities. The created enterprises are focused on a wide range of consumers. It is revealed that ethnic ties are important only at the stage of entering a new host community. However, diasporas and migrant entrepreneurs in most cases exist independently of each other.
