- Abstract
- The principles and technologies of strategic transformation of the University in order to increase its competitiveness among the world's leading research and educational centers are formulated. The article analyzes the prerequisites for organizational changes in Russian universities in the context of the emergence of a system of world University rankings. It is noted that in modern conditions, universities have become the object of application of scientific and practical management methods, including change management methods that were previously applied only to market enterprises. The main elements of the strategy and measures for the transition of the University to the target competitive state are described. The article discusses the organizational specifics of the Russian University as a “professional bureaucracy”, which complicates the process of changes. The case of strategic organizational changes of Lobachevsky Nizhny Novgorod state University, a participant of the 5-100 program, is considered. The main strategic goals and technologies of organizational changes of UNN for the last quarter of a century are described. The results of the “soft” reorganization of UNN based on a project-oriented approach are discussed. The main elements (strategic initiatives) of the road map for improving the competitiveness of UNN are described. The roadmap includes both standardized strategic initiatives aimed at producing competitive intellectual products in education, science, and innovation, as well as unique initiatives to develop competitive advantages specific to UNN.
