Abstract
Religious communities are considered as a subject of state social policy implementation. Social service is considered as a type of non-religious activity of confessional associations. The activities of people included in religious communities are divided into religious (including religious and non-religious) and non-religious. The analysis is given: religious communities ' assessments of the importance of social service for the implementation of state social policy; their ideas about the possibilities of cooperation with the state and non-religious associations in the field of social service; factors that determine the social service of religious communities.
