Abstract
The article considers the formation of the concept of figuration in the sociology of Norbert Elias. History, according to Elias, is a stream of figuration in which interdependent individuals are free and connected at the same time. The core of human relations is power. The interweaving of ambivalent connections and relationships between people creates dynamic balances of power that can lead to the formation of various figures. The sociogenesis of absolutism is an example of establishing such a balance of power and shaping it into a new figuration.
