Abstract

The concept of «zone of proximal development», which is a generalization of Vygotsky’s viewpoint on interrelationship between scientific notions and notions acquired in everyday life in course of development of children thinking, is analyzed comparing subject-oriented activity approach (S. L. Rubinshtein & oth.) and «sign» approach (L. S. Vygotsky & oth.). Author revealed powerful and weak points in Vygotsky’s theory: an attempt to overcome static approach to the testing of child; inner contradictions between interpretation of everyday notions as unrelated to learning and scientific notions as formed in course of school training
