Abstract
The article is devoted to the role of Iranian national and western values in the development of Iranian culture before and after Islamic revolution of 1979 in Iran. The author focuses on the attitude of Iranian establishment and Iranian society, particularly intellectuals, to the process of westernization. It is noted that the sphere of Iranian culture is getting more and more politicized and has already become an area of confrontation of the conservatives and reformists.
