- Abstract
- This work is devoted to the variety of syntactic and semantic types of applicatives in the Ainu language, mainly based on the Chitose and Saru dialects (southern Hokkaido). Applicatives in the Ainu language are formed by means of the prefixes e-, ko- and o- (the enumeration order reflects the decrease in the frequency of the prefix). The actual syntactic role of these prefixes is to increase the valency, and the specific meaning may vary depending on the lexical meaning of the original verb. In Ainu, there are both widespread in languages and unusual types of applicative constructions, which are of particular interest for linguistic typology.
