- Abstract
- The article deals with one Balto-Slavic mythological parallel, that is. Lith. Rugiy. boba - serb. Баба Руга / Баба Рога on the basis of lexical, mythological and ethnological material of Slavic, Baltic and German folk traditions. A hypothesis is substantiated about etymology of given Serbian mythonim, which is derived from Balto-Slavo-Germanic root with the meaning ‘rye’ рожь’ (Lith. rugys, Latvian rudzi, Prus, rugis, Protoslav. *гъгъ, Rus. dial./jyaa with derivations, Ukr.-carpath, рогбтый, Germ. Roggen).
